Extremely rare breed poultry

Sicilian Buttercups are very rare and very unusual looking. They get their name from their saucer shaped comb and were originally imported from Sicily approximately 100 years ago.

I have a small collection of pullets of varying ages ranging from 2-9 weeks old for sale.

As a reputable breeder I put a great deal of effort into breeding happy healthy birds and as such all my chicks are socialised with other poultry and handled reguarly from an early age.

Though I believe these to be large fowl they will never be huge as they are a mediterranean type of breed.

Though these types are normally renowned for flightiness, because of the good early start these chicks have had with socialisation and handling this is reduced very considerably. They are in with some young Orpington chicks who are proving more flighty than these.

Anyone who knows Orps will know the one thing they don't do is flightiness [far too much like hard work] so I think this comparison shows how well acustomed to handling these Buttercup chicks are, so much so that they will leap into my hand to be picked up.

They are very individual characters in their own right and will develop into beautiful birds.

Here's a pic of the young pullets and one of the parent birds which will give you a good idea of how they will look.
