We took our 16 year old moggy Sammy to the vets on Friday due to his ongoing health problems. He's lost a lot of weight and condition since Christmas. Anyway, a scan shows he has one enlarged kidney which has a malignant tumor in it. Options are to operate and remove the kidney. Then if he survives the surgery he'd be on several medications a day, with a 30% chance of seeing another year.
Or do we just let him have a last few weeks of peace and quiet and make the decision to have him PTS when the time comes? It's a decision we've had to make several times over the years, and does not get any easier I can tell you
Sam has had a long and happy life. He was a rescue cat we took on at a few weeks old and he's been a right character.
I think we'll pamper him and make his last few weeks as comfortable as possible. He's a shadow of his former self and it's painfull to watch him now.
He's got a favorite tree in the garden he likes to sit under in the sun. That's where I'll put him.........
