Yes, it all sounds very normal - as long as the skin appears healthy and not sore. Labs that live indoors do seem to moult more, and can do all year round.

Between my two girls Indie has a much longer coat, and at this time of year she looses bag fulls of hair, you can almost pull it out in tufts from her back end. Tau has a much shorter coat, and doesn't lose anywhere near as much fur. I wouldn't use a furminator on a Lab, I know they are only meant to strip out the dead hair, but a Lab is double coated and a comb does the job enough for my liking. I do know people who use a furminator on their Labs and they swear by them, its one of those horses for courses things!

I never bother washing mine either, unless they've rolled in something, as long as their coat and skin are healthy they get left alone.
