I have a Somali with a sensitive stomach. I also noticed that if I buy vet food and give him some dry food (for sensitive cats), he is fine. Somehow red meat seems to make it worse, so I feed him mostly chicken. He loves it, his stomach is in good condition and there are no overly smelly surprises in the sandbox. (Well, we use such good cat sand I have basically forgotten that smell...) No point in even trying with the cheap market-food with him.
The fun part is if he happens to have diarrhea. That combined with long hair isnīt much fun. I am stalking him with a wet rag if I hear the telltale sounds of diarrhea from the sandbox. No way will he be allowed near our furniture before I have washed him... So you bet I am very careful with what I feed him.
