Hello Yvonne, I wish you much happiness with your new puppy.
Yes, just a gentle brush is all that is needed at first, and as Fleur has said, run your hands over the body and examine the ears and paws every day. This helps when it is taken to the vets, and you can feel if any thing is wrong with your dog.
Please post some pictures when you get your pup as we would love to see them.
