Re: Dog Rescue Centres in Lancashire

Hi portia, so pleased for you - another poochie!!

I got my two from Leigh dogs and cats home, it's a private boarding kennel that has one block put aside for recues. Their rehoming policy will make your hair stand on end - I asked if I could go to the pub next door to think my adoption over and they basically said it's now or never! There were no questions, no home check and they didn't bat an eye when I said that I didn't even have collars or leads with me to get them to the car Don't let that put you off tho, those dogs are just as deserving as the next.

My heart split in two when I went to Bolton Destitue Dogs Home, the out of date name should've prepared me for the out of date attitudes in this shelter. I found the staff unhelpful and rude but there were some sweet, sweet dogs in there. Be prepared to stand your ground at this place and ask to walk outdoors with any dog you think is a match.

You could drive down to the Dogs trust at Huyton on the edge of L'pool. It's not too hard to find and the staff are hell bent on matching up the right dog to the right owner.

I got my first 2 rescues from Station Rd Kennells in White Coppice near chorley, but this is going back a few years and I've heard that they no longer rehome (private boarding kennells). Might be worth a phone call tho.

There is an rspca in B'pool and one in S'port too.

All the ones I'm giving you are in my neck of the woods sorry!.... In your direction is Hyndburn Hyndburn Stray Dogs In Need, I don't have any personal experience of this org, but the website is full of info.

And last but not least... the wonderful Rochdale Dog Rescue who are technically not a shelter, but find temporary homes for death row poundies until they find their forever homes. Rochdale Dog Rescue Help Dogs on Death Row Find Safety & Finally Loving Homes EVERYONE have a look aren't they a fab organisation!

Good luck! You know you'll be so chuffed when you've brought your new buddy home!

xx
