As ferrets are photo periodic, keeping them in your home with electric lighting mucks up when and how they come in and out of the moult, the moult is also geared to the breeding season.

None of my animals are spayed or neutered and they are not kept in a room where the electric light is on for more than a few minutes at evening feeding time, they also have to put up with the temperatures as they would be outside.
