I heard that information from a feline specialist at a seminar. My vet told me different, but when I challenged her and repeated what the vet at the seminar had said, she admitted she wasn't entirely sure. If the veterinary profession can not agree - then we have no hope

Maybe they have discovered strains of calici that stay in the system, who knows. Of the two because of the reoccurrance of symptoms, Herpes seems to be the one to be slightly more concerned with, and calici the lesser of the two.
