Re: Toilet training when working, help!!!!!!!

Hiya all,

I do use a crate of an evening when we go to bed and he is in there all night with no problems, but like you tweedle dee, in the day when I leave him out of it, even when I am home, and even though I take him for walks and out in the back garden intermittently, he still finds time to do sneaky widdles!!

He is left for approximately 8 hours but has a huge space and toys and the radio. I have had dogs before and know that if you start them from puppy stage they will get used to what you do. (Although have never had these sort of problems). I dont expect him to last the whole day so dont have a problem with him needing to go if he would at least use the paper at the back door but as I said when I got the training pads he used them to sleep on!

I took the advice on my vet regarding the water and as his food has plenty of fluid in it I just leave a handful of ice cubes to melt in his bowel when I am out which has made a small difference. Just dont know what he has against my washing machine as that seems to be one of the spots of choice!!

Unfortunately I do not have anyone that could come and let him out, well thats not strictly true there are the inlaws, but being a selfish pair and despite having their own dog and having us help them when they are away it is too much for them to help us!!!!

Still, I will carry on and have ordered that train-um stuff so will give that a go.

Thank you so much for all your advice it is really appreciated and has given me some great idea's to try.
