I would at least get the Bitch swabbed as they can suffer from bacterial infection Beta heamalitic streptococci. This can cause re absorbtion, dead pups and fading puppy syndrome in my experience
I give my bitches a course of antibiotics on Vets advice but a lot of breeders think it is a waste of time
