The quick release ones sound really good and I'm sure collars are much safer now than they used to be but years ago (and I'm talking at least 10) my mums cat got its collar caught up on a branch and it basically hung itself. She was utterly heartbroken and has never used one since, neither have I but I do worry that people might think they are strays... Luckily mine don't wander far.
