oh dear could have happen both ways really. my sprinkle ripped big chunk off both front pads, it was like he peeled a layer or two off them he did this while running then he suddenly skided to a holt, there was blood everywhere got him home cleaned him up and didnt take him out for a couple of days he just limped round the garden kept them clean in salt water and they healed fine,
