Like people lots of things can change the consistency of their poo. If his digestive system has been a bit delicate recently he could have eaten more than it could cope with. He may have felt stressed about something that caused it. There are any number of reasons. I would say don't worry if its like that on odd occasions but in between he does solid ones. Easier said than done when its a much loved baby though.
