Wouldn't most breeders WANT to know if anything were wrong with their kittens so that they can tackle it rather than hide their heads in the sand, ignore it and build up a bad reputation for themselves?
As a buyer, I can easily see it from your viewpoint. All you want is the truth, some advice and a token gesture to admit what happened together with an apology perhaps.
As a breeder, I cannot understand why someone would shoo away a person who has bought a kitten in good faith and who wants to raise a query. I'd far rather sort it out.
