it's irrelevant whether the cat is a pedigree or a moggy the vets charge the same - the cost is for treatment. If your cat developes diabeties then whether it is a moggy or a pedigree then the cost is the same and that is a lifelong condition. Moggies tend to be let out more and are actually more in need of the extra cover - road traffic accident costs can easily be in the £1000's, whereas most pedigrees I believe are kept as house cats. My moggy is insured for more than my pedigree for this very reason - he goes out she doesn't.
