Re: I've got a new Siamese kitten!

You could ask the vet to titre test. That should be able to determine whether he has been vaccinated or not. However, that said, you may find that is more expensive than a repeat course of vaccinations.

Siamese are highly intelligent and do need to be kept entertained. Interaction with their family - 2 legged and 4 is also very important. Until you can mix him with the rest of your feline family he will attach himself firmly to you and will need to be with you a lot of the time. He has had a lot of upheaval in his short life.

If he is a registered pedigree siamese then the earliest he could have gone to his new home is 12 weeks old, so if he is only 13 weeks old now then his previous owner rehomed him pretty quickly. I do wonder if that is the case and you haven't been fed a story, why the previous owner didn't return him to his breeder. Any respectable breeder would have taken him back and found him a new home, or at the very least been a part of his rehoming process.

He is just a baby, so if you catch him doing something you don't want him to do then give him a firm No and take him away, and entertain him in some other way. That should work with the furniture although joining in your meal is seen by siamese as their right - they are human after all and what is good enough for you, is certainly good enough for them.

Like people all cats are different and its probably just a matter of trial and error to see what he really loves to play with. More likely than not though, that will mean your participation. Cheap usual favourites a small balls of foil or a cardboard box with doors cut into it. A Da Bird toy is probably a must for every cat home, irresistable to all cats, and it could help as part of your introduction process, if you can get them all involved in a game they all enjoy.

If you haven't had a siamese before -beware one is never enough
