ive crate trained both of my goldens, as soon as i got home from buying the girls, they each went into their crate cus they were so tired, i left the door open so they could come out, after about an hour they went to their crate and there was a treat inside, they fell asleep ,i quickly closed the door, and when they woke up, not a murmer was had,i kept on doing the treat in the cage and leaving it open then closing it again for a few weeks, and luckly i didnt have a problem, i always partially crate train my puppies as i find this easier for the pups to adjust in their new homes,im a great believer in crate training,
