Some of you may remember I posted a thread last year about me having to giving up breeding and having my Persian male castrated, hoping that it might stop him from spraying as I didn’t know what to do with him, due to contracts on him etc...
Well in short its not made a difference and I am at the end of my tether as I thought I was doing what’s best with him but hes just worse.
He went for his op on the 7th of Jan, since then he only wees on the floor and not in his litter???? He will pooh in it but not wee, and his wee still stinks very strong. He came back from the vets with cat flu even though he’s vaccinated, just got rid of that and now he’s starting to loose his fur off his tail, its just dropping off, the skin isn’t flaky and is nice and pink???
He has to live in my conservatory with a cat flap to an outside pen, but the smell of cat pee wafts through the patio doors even thought I clean and disinfect it daily. I hate it when I have people round as I am house proud and find the smell of cat pee embarrassing so have avoided people comming to our home instead.
He’s ok in there now but what about when the warmer weather comes?? what do I do with him then? He could go back in his stud pen but who wants a pet that lives in a pen?
I rang the vets for a long chat and they think that it would be best to have him put to sleep as he would have no quality of life stuck in a pen for the rest of his life and think the fur lose is down to stress.
Is that really the only option for him???? Why on earth do us breeders do this to our stud cats, ok some dont spray, but those that do what kind of future do they have??? This cat was 1 cc away from being a champion and you would never believe me to look at him now! Now hes un-rehomeable and faces a not so good future.......
