I've found with mine, when they get back they are just as though nothing has happened. The day after they tend to sleep a bit more, but thats usually the stress of the previous day. After that just the same as always. Is she your only cat? If you have others or young children then you could make sure she has a safe haven where she can retreat with out being bothered if she wants to be somewhere nice and quiet.

Is she having a side spay or a midline ? With a side spay there's only a couple of stitches and the actual wound is usually quite small. Some vets seem to add a collar to the bill as standard, but I have never had one for mine, and never had an issue with the chewing their stitches - but then all cats are different. Once they have cleaned the area they are happy to leave it alone.

The worst bit is the waiting to call at lunchtime to make sure everything went OK.
