Very good advice

If you have a mini filter you could add some filter wool to help it clear up. I would just leave it 24 it will be nice and clear then.
Get some live plants, fast growing ones are the best. Add wood if its going to be a Amazon tank, or Rocks if its going to be an Hardwater African tank.

Take your time to research your fish , its very easy to go crazy in the fish shop when buying your first fish. I would recommend some fish that stay mid to top water layer first of all. stay away from mollies , platys , etc they breed like wild fire.

Buying new fish is one of the best parts of fish keeping, take your time
