Timmy
Hi All
Just joined this forum as we need some advice.
We have had our cat Timmy for approx 14 years now, he just turned up in the garden one lovely summers day and decided he wanted to live with us.
He has had the usual scrapes that cat have, one with a passing taxi that nearly killed him a number of years back, it left him blind in one eye, but at least the taxi driver took him to the vets. This was not long after we took him in and he didn't have a collar on or a microchip, so after some frantic phone calls around the local vets after he didn't come home, we traced him.
Needless to say he was chipped straight away and he became one of the most spolied and loved cats you could ever meet, he is an absolute star.
In March lst year he started to get some nasty discharge from his damaged eye so it was decided that it had better be removed, this didn't seem to bother him too much. However, it was at this time that the vet told us that his good eye had a degenerative disorder that would eventually mean he would lose his site in his good eye.
Well, this is what happened last week just after the New Year, the vet has told us to see how he goes on around the house, he is barely coping. My wife is on the sick at the moment and is looking after him, we can't get any sleep because he just walks around the house all night crying, bumping into things, he can't eat properly, he is having trouble getting his head in his bowls, his head bobs about, up and down.
This breaking our hearts the thought of leaving him on his own all day whilst we are at work and he can't even look out of the window.
We were wondering if anyone on this site has had a similar thing happen to their cat and how did the cat cope?
We are taking him back to the vets tomorrow, but we don't know what will be said this time.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
