What are the advantages to this service...surely if my dog was lost he'd only be linked to me if taken in to the vets or animal services? And i know a lot of people keep strays?

So many questions
The chances are that your dog will not feel the needle, the majority do not.

I would STRONGLY advise getting any dog microchipped, since if lost, your dog will be reunited with you in double quick time. Don't take the chance
