If it's any help we had our little jack russell x chihuahua done (she only weighs 2.5kgs) and she didn't flinch. However, she absolutely screamed the place down when the vet cut her nails It is a big needle, but they honestly don't seem to mind it. I've had all my horses done too, and they didn't flinch either.
