I feel the need to post on here so strongly! Im just your everyday nobody but i need to express my opinion. I browse other forums regulary and i have some contact with rescues although due to work commitments i cant do much to help them.

You love dogs right? Otherwise, why do you have dogs if you dont love them? You must care about dogs?

To anybody considering breeding from their dog whether a champion best of breed winner, a fabulous dog with a great temperament, a dog with great looks, a prize winner in any way, a working dog, your best friend, maybe just even your pet, please PLEASE have another think about it.
Rescues are full to the brim right now and not with the old ''passed it'' dogs. Young 6/8/12 weeks maybe even younger puppies are in there! There are so many wanting to be handed in with simply no space. Puppies that have been there looking for homes for weeks. These dogs have no background so no 'bad habits', 'aggression' or any other baggage some people feel comes with a rescue dog.

The more puppies that are bred, the more than cant be homed and the more that risk being put to sleep because they cant get rescue space. More and more litters are being handed in or dumped by breeders beacuse they cant be sold, especially due to the recession.

All i ask is that you think again before breeding your dog, whether bitch or dog, would you really want one of your puppies, one of the offspring from your much loved, could never be without dogs to end up dead, simply because there just wasnt the home for it. PLease if you have to breed for whatever reason, dont do it now whilst so many are dying.

Please do not shrug this post off and think ''Its not going to happen to my litter'' or ''it just doesnt happen like that'' beacuse it does and its happening now, and it might!

If you love dogs as much as i and so many other people do......please dont breed....not now. Dont be responsible for another dogs death

Hi, I do agree with you, especially at this time of year, rescue centres are always full of unwanted dogs - of all ages and breeds. "Why breed and buy whilst shelter dogs die" ...I would always get my dog from a rescue, whether it be a cross or full breed.

Edited to add; I think if people are responsable breeders, they will find good homes for their puppies, and not just let them go to any old family/person. Also alot of breeders will take the puppy back if the new owners find they can't handle it for what ever reason.
