The problem with dry food as well as wet , is that it is full of filling ingredients that a dogs system just canot digest , ie grain, beet pilp , wheat etc , these are allien to their digestive track and so can often be the cause of runny poo .
Sometimes it can just be the percentage of these ingredients that can be the cause , and a dry food with less grain etc can be better for sensetive tums .
Ultimately a dogs system is best on what its natural diet would be ..... raw meat , this doesnt have to be as daunting as at first may seem , I reasearched raw feeding about 8 months ago and swaped my 2 labs over to raw with no trouble at all , the only outlay cost wise was a chest freezer , second hand , to put the meat in , i get 8 weeks worth of food at a time delivered from a place called Landywoods and it costs me £40 to feed raw for 2 adult labs , research is needed into how to feed and this info can found on here by searching through past posts or online .
As far as dry kibble goes i would maybe sudgest Pero again can be ordered online direct from them or some of thier foods can be found at pets at home , but the one i would recommend is Pero labrador ( not designed just for labs ) but the larger dog with sensetive tums it is based on salmo and brown rice ( brown rice being not such a bad filler ) . it also has added glucosamine , something that any large dog owner should think of as it helps in the long term protection of the joints .
Another good one as said before is James well belloved ,or Origin food which is closest to feeding raw but in a kibble 70% meat 30% fruit and veg .
Ultimatey any change of food needs to done slowly over a period of about a week , slowly replacing the old food for the new in gradual amounts , a change of food alone can cause tummy upset if done to quickly . Hope this helps .
