Poacher (would love to be!) Born of working parents; he and his brother went into different parts of a family; the son's dog Tinker adapted well into family domesticated life. Poacher his brother owned by the mother ..has coped well in a quieter lifestyle but with long walks on tap. Yet his prey instincts are to the fore and London Parks are proving a frustrating hold on his energies; the wrong territory for their display!
Poacher has fantastic recall to a whistle; enjoys a free and fast life mixing with all number of dogs but on rare occasions his socialisation has turned instinctual- mainly with small furry dogs toy dogs and puppies. His owner has observed, this tends to happen at the beginning of the walk before his high energy has been expended. One the whole and particularly, once relaxed and flowing, his socialisations go so well. Observing him falling on his back at the hint of any dominance from other dogs you would guess his age to be 6 months rather than 18 months. He isn't a dominant dog nor is he an aggressor just his hunt instincts can come through and with proper management and in the right setting he is a star dog.
Poacher is a typical Patti in the sense of being very loving and sensitive to command. He has had a great start to life and is well controlled. He now needs a lower dog density area with less 'precious pooches' with squeaky toy accompaniments to set him off. If you have researched this breed you know rather like Collies they are working dogs who are primed for purpose and need to be given constructive vents for their energies. They excel in purpose and natural cheekiness! Poacher is small is stature about 14" to the shoulder; wire haried and extremely attractive. Neutered; chipped and vax'd. Poacher needs a rural setting with country walks to run his socks off in..whey hey!!!!!
Poacher would do well living with another dog; ideally not a terrier , but one what can offer fun and companionship to employ his wit and enjoy his company.
