I had a beautiful Siamese cat who was desperately lonely, as she needed constant attention, so we got her a tiny kitten. She mothered it immediately, but unfortunately it died. She again became lonely so we got her a new cat (six months old) but they never really befriended each other they way she would have liked as this cat was a stray that didn't like to be stroked etc.

So we got her another kitten and after a week she tried to mother it too, but this cat isn't the type that needs lots of attention, although they did get on well and she did settle.

If you do get one, make sure it is one that needs lots of attention and is very affectionate. My cats were all girls. However, I lost my Siamese last year and took in a boy stray in May and the two girls just accepted him into the house without any fuss.
