Since when??????? What a very strange remark, lol
All kittens should be weaned and independent of thier mothers by 8 weeks. Pedigree cats are sold at 12/13 weeks because responsible breeders have then vaccinated at 9 and 12 weeks and keep them for 1 week after to make sure all is well.
