I think that depends on where you live. Most people in my neighbourhood would think a microchip was a tasty alternative to buying a take-away.
One of the reasons I don't let my cat out is that I am scared someone would just pick her up and take her home with them. I am planning on moving somewhere nicer as soon as the housing market allows.
