Good luck with finding the right cat for you. Dont rule out getting a moggy...i have 6 and they are wonderful cats all with individual loving personalities.

I also have a little boy whos 4 and he has grown up with our cats from being born and he is great with them, never once hads he chased them, hot them grabbed at them or caused them any discomfort. I think it is important to introduce children to the responsibilities of having a pet and caring for them.

I also have a little girl who is 7 months and she loves our cats...gets very excited when she sees them, but cats arnt stupid if they feel uncomfortable in a situation they will just move away from it.

I think its a great idea....just supervise your child with you pet and it should be ok.
