If you are regularly bathing the wound with salt water (saline solution) that should help with the healing process. Another good product you can get from the chemist is intrasite gel. A blob of that on the wound, helps draw out any infection and aids the healing process. If the wound is open whilst it drains and kept clean then it should heal up OK.
