There are a number of reasons. More than likely its some sort of reaction to the stitches causing a fluid build up. One of my girls had that, but it disappeared within a couple of days of the stitches coming out. That kind of reaction is quite common apparently.

The other possibilities are a slight infection, which a course of antibiotics will cure, or the worst case is some sort of hernia. Cats have very poor blood supply and sometimes when the inner walls don't heal together as they should. When the dissolvable stitches they use dissolve then the inner wall parts and you get a hernia. That means a repeat op, but its very rare. That said, I don't think that would appear this quickly if the op was only done on Friday.

Its probably just the fluid build up and the vet will tell you to just keep an eye on it. Side spays are alot easier, but they do mess up the coat. Especially in a siamese, their pale coat grows back the colour of their points and it takes months to disappear. Although, I think he really should have given you the option as midlines cost more than side spays, and that should be your decision not his.
