I did it wrong the first time, too, so she licked at it, much to her annoyance. I think after half an hour or so it's supposed to be dry, so I don't think you need to be worried about during the night.

My advice: sit the kitty on your lap facing away from you, part the fur (make sure you part it side to side like parting your own hair, and not top to bottom...it makes less mess side to side), put the tip of the pipette against the skin and slowly squeeze. Put the Frontline on the base of the skull, not between the shoulder-blades, as they can turn their head to lick it off there.
