First of all because what happens now with all the pedigree dogs that their breed standards have to be checked and maybe changed for the sake of the dogs....the kennel club let it come to all of this.
Also how can such powers be given someone who still in this minute lets byb and puppyfarmers register with?
Why not make health testing mandatory (sp) and prove to the ppl that they are really looking for the welfare of the dogs and not looking to gain power over the breeders?

This is interesting to read and showes a bit the other side
An Open Letter to the Kennel Club: You Haven’t Earned the Right to Statutory Powers
But surely giving them legislation they can then refuse to register litters which are not tested, breed clubs have been calling for this for sometime.
As I said if complaints are made about breeders or Judges they are investigated.
Why do the NIS accept litter registrations from dodgy breeders, untested dogs, dogs that are known to have health issues ?
If the KC are supposed to be as bad as some of you are making out why did they refuse to accept the NI as a new breed ?
Surely there was money to be made by accepting the NI as a breed.
