I would definitely contact his breeder and let her know, she would definitely want to be involved I am sure. You have to watch vets sometimes they can be a tad 'over zealous' and she maybe able to help you through that 
It is very common for kittens coming into households with exisiting cats to contract something minor. Its like kids going to school for the first time. Every household has minor bugs that their occupants are immune to, but a new addition isn't.
