I'd def go for the crate, we didn't at first which I regret, he's always had a pen but learnt to escape!

Alfie cried for a whole month... the only thing that helped was a hot water bottle and a ticking clock. It takes a lot of patience and will power but ignoring her is the best thing.

You definitely can't expect her to go to the toilet in her bedding area, at 7 weeks she won't be able to hold herself for very long. Thats quite early for her to leave her family.
