I must admit, not being a breeder, I've always been under the impression that it's quite selfish to get all these beautiful kittens from a beloved pet, only to send them on their way once they've done. However, what you have just said has really opened my eyes; I hadn't thought about how their ranks amongst the other entire cats in the household would change once they were neutered.

Poor kitties. Thanks for explaining that, as I now understand that much better.

It still must be pretty lonely at first for a retired breeding queen to move away from a multi-cat household to being someone's regular pet, though...how well do they usually cope with that?
