I tend to advise peopel to sek breedrs that belong to their breed clubs, as it si usually a mark of more than causl interest in their breed.

Also breed clubs will ahve stronger codes of ethics than the Kennel clbu have.

For example my own breed club among other things insists no bitch under two has a litter, and not more than 5 years for a first litter, and no more than four litters in her lifetime.

All breeding stock must be hip scored and hold a current eye test certificate. Fro research purposes the club are asking for breeders to have a kidney function test before each mating, as some cases of FRD have been found abroad.

Breeders must also take back theri own breeding for rehoming. All pups must be registered etc etc.
