Talking The British Bulldog

Ok, so this is not at all the type of breed I would have originally gone for but through my research they seem to be very endearing.

I live in a basment flat with a small front andback garden with three cats. That is what i had to take in mind when considering which dog to get.

I had a look at the breed and it seems that they have:

Low energy levels
Great Temperement
Generally good with other animals if bought up as a puppy

This is exactly what we are looking for. However there are cons too:

Multitude of health problems that can be expensive
Maintenance - cleaning their wrinkles!

I am trying to think about whether this is the right breed for me. From all my research of different dogs this is the breed that has had a special effect on me. I love the idea of a slow couch potato and I think in many ways the main ffactors effecting my desicion about which breed to get are good for the bulldog as they would fit in here, However I am not sure about the health problems, I looked at a site and many people commented saying they were expensive to keep.

What are you opinions on bulldogs?

Could you provide me with any information that I maybe have not been told about them, I saw that almost everyone said they are big softies which is great

Thank you
