Re: mistake with vaccination - advice/experience of this?

there is a recommendationm now to give a 3rd vaccine to kittens at or after 16 weeks of age, because of persistent maternal antibodies - this is more important in breeding / rescue situations. However I haven't started doing this yet, because my kittens don't always stay here till 16 weeks of age. I do mention it in my information sheet for new owners.

more info on The European Advisory Board on Cat Diseases

I will let you know when i have more info. or you could keep it in mind and search the internet. I have also been reading about having a third course of the Parvo for dogs as well. Maybe there is a resistance going on with some of these hybrid breeds? Maybe a third course would be necessary. I would discuss it with your vets if you can. Some vaccine companies are suggesting that a 3rd vaccine is given to pups at 16wks and to bring forward older pups first booster to 10 - 12 months of age rather than 14.
I gather it's all to do with MDAs(maternally derived antibody) reducing the effects of the early vaccs and then they themselves naturally diminish (don't quote me on that!!!) would be maybe a suggestion to speak to your vets and see if they can discuss this with their vaccine company. or even contact Nobivac yourself in email or letter.
I've only heard about i happening with dogs and with hybrid breeds. not the natural breeds like you have.
