I have read all the replies and they are varied. My personal feeling is that if a kitten goes to a home where there is even the slightest danger of being run over, then I would say keep it as an indoor cat. Cats do not need a lot of space as such. They like vertical space, i.e. climbing and jumping up to places. They will not miss the outdoors if they have never experienced it. I have a few indoor cats who are happy and not in the least stressed. They have the whole of the house to roam in, lots of toys and vertical structures. They are safe from traffic, no chance of catching fatal infections, no chance of human abuse, etc. So I think you must add up all the positive and the negative reasons for keeping your precious cat indoors. I know that you will be surprised at just how many positives you get.
