Re: Advice/Progress

Sounds like what you are going through is what my dog trainer calls the "honeymoon period" A lot of puppies go through this, it's there way of lulling their new owners into a false sence of security before bedlam decends

In all seriousness, it sounds like you have a wonderful puppy there that is obviously very comfortable being part of your family

On the training front I completely agree with marlynaveve. The garden will be fine for your new baby. I'm a strong believer that paper training just enforces to the puppy that it is in fact OK to go to the toilet indoors. Neither of my pups have been paper trained and were cleaner much earlier than people I know who paper trained their pups.

Take pup into the garden after every meal time, everytime they wake up, after a few minutes of play time and at regular intervals during the day. Use a key word or phrase when they perform, eg "toilet", "be quick", "wee wee's" and plenty of praise when they do their business, he will very quickly learn that outside is where he's supposed to go.

Good luck, and have fun & plenty of paitience
