Re: Why does mums milk have to be completely gone before speying??

I had Tabitha spayed when she was still feeding her kittens. She still does very occasionally now, although they are 16 weeks. Two are going to their forever home on Tuesday and she does bat them away almost as soon as they start feeding so I think her milk is drying up.

I had my last cat spayed when she was still feeding as well - she kept feeding the two I kept until they were about eight!! I did speak to my vet about it and she said not to worry. They are 14 and 13 now and she doesn't feed them any longer, I'm pleased to say!

I guess I have been really lucky that my queens have been OK - I didn't know they were supposed to have stopped feeding altogether before being spayed.
