Hello everyone, I'm new here. And a man

...how many others are out there? First of all...about my kitten: He's a Norwegian Forest Cat. I've wanted one for ages since I first read about them. I'm a history buff so I was reading up on the vikings. I like anything to do with history, even antiques...so a "historical" cat appeals to me a lot too. I also love nature and so love animals in general and plants etc.
Now about the "man living alone with a cat" stigma: I couldn't care less...you can tell people make judgements on your sexual orientation (I'm straight...not that I have any problems with gay men), or they think you're a strange loner...quite the opposite otherwise why get a blimming cat for company? And other general stupidity. I love cats...amazing animals. Much more than dogs...I find dogs a bit annoying...they hang onto your every word, have no initiative and are generally less smarter than cats (people mistake a dog's willingness to follow orders as intelligence)...surely an animal which can take the initiative and act for itself making decisions in the meantime is more intelligent than one which follows orders blindly? "Rover...jump off the cliff" "WOOF! WOOooooooooooooooooof" *thud*. If that's the case, a mule must be the most intelligent creature in the world, they'll happilly carry you on their backs until they collapse and die of exhaustion... I don't hate dogs mind..I just think they are overated. Whereas cats are a perfect blend of self-sufficiency yet rely on their owners for food but wont suffer an anxiety attack everytime you leave them for longer than 15 seconds. Cats also don't stick their heads in the bin and eat whatever they find or drink from the toilet bowl and generally will keep themselves clean...yay cats!
Anyway, I have to get up at 5am tomorrow morning to pick him up...he's 150 miles away, you see...but can't sleep cos I'm quite looking forward to it.
