my cats are pretty much allowed anywhere and to do whatever they please. Most the time I think they own the house and we are here to serve their wishes LOL! I draw the line at them going in my sons room as he has asthma, so keep the door shut. Also they are not allowed in my bathroom unsupervised as one of them (Yet to find out who!!), likes to pee on my bath mat, but only there?! My persians are indoor only cats so I feel them having the run of the house is my way of making up for the lack of exploring outside, Wu on the other hand is allowed to go where he pleased outside but when in the house is only allowed downstairs (He is a monkey for fighting with the others when they want to sleep). The dogs are only allowed downstairs and not upstairs. I don't like the cats on the work tops but they are fed in my lounge at the dining room table (We don't eat there LOL).
I don't really set many rules for them, if we don't like something I just tend to move them
