I had a blue BSH and she was beautiful, but only friendly to me. She'd swat at anyone else, but let me get away with all kinds of things
In all honesty if you're both going to be out during working hours, I'd suggest you get a pair, no matter what you choose. Nothing entertains a cat like another cat.
Also, Sue's got it spot on there: Active kitties will get bored without stimulation, and very little stimulates a cat like exploring the outside world. If you want an indoor cat, I doubly reccommend that you get a pair so that they can do half your work for you.
Alas you tend not to know whether your cat's an outdoor-lover or an indoor-lover until you get it home and let it settle in. By the time Bootsie was eight weeks old there was absolutely no way we could keep her in - she was at the patio doors and windows scratching to get out even as a wee tiddler. Earthquake, though, far prefers the indoors, and shows very little interest in the garden.
