Hi redd,
Do you mean a profile picture or an avatar (the picture that shows up in the top left of your posts)?
Anyway, to upload a profile picture using Photobucket. You need to enter the web address of your photo where it says:

Enter your URL in that box.
Go to
Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and make an account (if you don't already have one). You can then upload any of your photos there, then post them onto forums etc.
Maybe you already have some of your images saved to an image hosting website?
If you have uploaded an album onto here, you can do it through that too. Go to your album, find the picture you want. Underneath the picture you will see the pictures URL... copy that and then paste into your profile picture area.
