It's awful when you really bond - and how can you help not bonding with pups you've actually bred, even though you know they are going to go to new owners from the minute they are conceived? I remember weeping buckets over Jayjay - he was my favourite in the litter; my nickname for him was Danny-boy. After Alan came to see him and said he wanted him, I was sitting and nursing him and singing Danny-boy to him - and when I came to the part that goes, "Tis you tis you must go and I must stay" I almost phoned Alan back and said I'd changed my mind! Anyway, I'm glad I didn't - he's got a fabulous life now - and Alan is brill about letting me see him!
