I agree with a lot of opinions already expressed here.
I think it's a combination of:
Really good conditioning/training
Lots of socializing
Dogs natural desire to please
Stable environment
Mutual respect
Good communication
Adequate exercise - the dog of course 
Leadership
Not forgetting love
