Hello there 
I also have gotten a kitten but a few months ago now. As everyone has said, they don't neccessarily sleep in their 'assigned' bed! My cat Luna is only now (7 months on) sleeping occasionaly on her bed. All cats scratch at their collars when they are new, but i'd just keep an eye on it if you are worried. My Luna doesn't even realise it's on anymore.
I feed my cat every morning on wet food and she has an unlimited supply of dry during the day, she doesn't eat too much and leaves it when she is done. If your cat can't stay away from it though it may be a good idea to monitor it Good luck with your little bloke
